Camping Le Cormoran is an exceptionally well maintained, family run site just 20 metres from miles of sandy beach! The spacious pitches are flat and grassy, divided by trees and low hedges. The range of facilities includes a shop, bar and snack bar and take away as well. The attractive swimming pool area has 2 heated pools, a children’s pool and a large sunbathing area, with one of the pools likely to be covered for 2009. The site is officially open from the beginning of April to the end of September, but residents can use their homes until the end of October, meaning Autumn breaks are a possibility.

There’s a restaurant/brasserie a 15 minute walk away, whilst 10kms away is the village of Ste. Mère Eglise famous for its part in the D-Day Landings. All around you will find not only reminders of the historic happenings of 1944, but also the traditional Normandy landscapes of lush meadows, wooded valleys and magnificent beaches.

Restaurant: There is no official restaurant on site although the site owners organise a weekly roast / BBQ for customers in bar area.  


Take-away meals: Snack bar & take away meals can be eaten in the bar area. On site pizzeria during July and August (take away only).

There is a small shop on site where basic groceries can be purchased.

Camping Le Cormoran is ideally located on the Cherbourg peninsula, an area rich in history and architecture. Situated in the heart of the Cotentin and Bessin Marshlands regional park and located 20m from the famous landing beaches of the 1944 embarquement, this family-run campsite really does cater for all ages.

For the more relaxed, there are an array of surrounding country walks to enjoy, medieval towns to explore at your leisure and a plethera of historic monuments and museums to visit. For those looking for a more vigourous lifestyle, why not take part in one of the many regional activities such as land yaughting, horse riding and an abundance of water sports.

9km from Camping Le Cormoran is the town of Sainte Mère Eglise, a town that played a significant part in the World War II Normandy landings. Because of its location (in the middle of route N13) it was a prime counterattack spot used by the Germans for any troops landing on Utah and Omaha beaches. Ste Mère Eglise is claimed to be one of the first towns liberated in the invasion after the Americans occupied it on June 6th 1944. Today Ste Mère Eglise centres on its role in the D-Day invasion. There are many small museums and World War II-related gift shops and eating places.

Musée du Débarquement Utah-Beach (6 km):

The Utah Beach Landing Museum is set up at the site of the U.S. landing on the 6th June 1944. Guided tours are available in English. Admission fee: €5.50 adults, €2.50 children. Closed January.

Cider museum in Valognes (20km):

Open since 1972 the Regional Cider Museum presents an array of items and tools used for the production of Normandy's famous cider ranging from the picking of the fruit to the consumption of the beverage. Besides the huge oak cider presses and traditional crushing lathe, different apple crushing items can also be seen, as well as containers, implements and items of daily life.
