A relaxing bolt-hole on the French Catalonian coastline
Le Pré-Catalan offers the best of all worlds – it’s so close to Spain you can almost taste it, it’s surrounded by stunning scenery, cosmopolitan towns and superb sandy beaches and it has all the comforts and diversions you'd expect from a family-friendly park.
It's no surprise that visitors are unanimous in their praise for this lovely spot, with its manicured lawns and peaceful location tucked into the Roussillon countryside. Like all the members of the Yelloh Village chain of parks you'll enjoy typically French attention to detail here– fresh bread and croissants at the baker's, heated pools shaded by palm trees and a great atmosphere at the animated 'Froggy's restaurant and pub bar in the evenings.
A really well run park, le Pré-Catalan also offers plenty of opportunities for you and your family to enjoy fun-filled days in the South of France sun. You can hire a bike and leisurely explore the local area, join in with a lively pétanque tournament organised by the park’s welcoming team of 'animators' or stay close to your comfortable holiday home and enjoy a leisurely afternoon with a pot of SPF 25 and a page-turner! This is the south of France after all!

There's a real 'something for everyone' feeling around this part of Roussillon – close at hand you've all the fun of the fair, with Europark's big wheels and illuminations lighting up the warm night sky. The coast in either direction from your park is magnificent – and not short of silvery, soft sands. But for even more drama, head to the low-lying whisper of land known as L'ile aux oiseaux (Bird Island), an old sand-bank now stabilised with marram grass and home to colonies of seabirds.
Leisurely days exploring the foothills of the Pyrenees offer up all manner of different adventures, tantalisingly nearby. Park the car and take the 'little yellow train' up the slopes. Wherever you travel, you'll be amazed at the clarity and luminosity of the light, as it catches the Mediterranean, or bounces off the Salses and Leucate lakes – an inland sea, and a real hotspot for windsurfers and pleasure boats. Higher up the rivers rush through gorges, creating spectacular backdrops for all-day hikes into the surrounding countryside or, for those who want to get closer to the water, a thrilling chance to try a spot of canyoning.
Of course, with Spain so close (around 40km) you'll certainly want to explore Catalonia’s dramatic cliff top drives and preserved fishing villages so beloved of one-time resident, Salvador Dali. The region's other great export, of course, is its wine. Visit some vineyards, and sample the product - sweet Muscat, or rich and fruity Côtes du Roussillon for example.
