La Ferme du Latois is a haven of lush greenery in the heart of the Vendée countryside yet just a short drive from the Atlantic coast.

Four star comfort awaits you at the captivating La Ferme du Latois – a modern, easy-going park set in 120 grassy acres and offering generously sized plots.

The park’s pretty grounds make for pleasant walks up to the shores of one of the lakes, from where you can try your hand at a spot of fishing, or along to the park’s newly extended swimming complex with excellent water chutes and slides plunging into the sun-kissed pools. At the heart of the site La Ferme du Latois' wonderfully rustic and beautifully restored 19th century stone barn lends a real touch of elegance to this delightful park and it is home to a very pleasant restaurant and snack-bar.

A tranquil spot, La Ferme du Latois favours gentle pursuits over boisterous activities and we think it's got the mix absolutely perfect. La Ferme du Latois will also appeal to visitors who really enjoy getting out and exploring their surroundings, perhaps with a picnic stocked up with fresh local produce from the local market at Challans.

The Vendéen coastline is an invigorating region of broad, sandy beaches, Atlantic rollers (perfect for surfers) and panoramic vistas. Seaside resorts such as Les Sables d'Olonne, St Gilles and St Hilaire all offer traditional sun and fun activities, elegant dining and soft sands, not to mention some wonderful gift shops and stylish boutiques. It's a unique region, and its sights aren't always run-of-the-mill.

Take for example the amazing ‘Le Puy du Fou’ theme park where the gladiators fight on in the Roman amphitheatre and history is re-enacted under the biggest light show in France. For a salty, seaward adventure, head to the Vendée's scatter of offshore islands – car free and totally blissful, you can relax to a soundtrack of seabirds, surf or just silence. The low-lying island of Noirmoutier is typical of the region itself - low-key, unspoiled and bathed in tranquillity.

The canals which criss-cross the marshlands are a paradise for birds and bird lovers, while the main towns of La Roche-sur-Yon, Fontenay-le-Comte and Challans offer plenty of diversions for a day's sightseeing and shopping. All are ideal stopovers for a hearty lunch, or reviving morning coffee before your drive back to the park past fields of towering sunflowers, reminding you that you really are in the heart of France.
